Parking You can’t miss the big garage. If you get there before noon, there should be space. If the garage is full, there is a surface lot. Pay by credit card on your way out - kids, tell dad you forgot your card, but don’t really forget it you’ll need it on the ship.
A safe and secure parking facility is conveniently located adjacent to the cruise terminal. Parking fees are $30 per day including all taxes*. Cash and major credit cards are accepted. No reservations are necessary and parking is guaranteed.
Luggage Tags
The guest document (eDocs - electronic document) includes a bag tag specific to the guest ship, sailing date, stateroom and deck number. This color tag should be attached to all checked luggage. It identifies for the crew, where to deliver your luggage.
We recommend the use of cruise luggage tag holders or that you laminate the tag. Otherwise use lots of staples and tape. You don’t want this tag falling off.
Make sure you tag every bag (even your CARRY-ON). Name and Cell phone number on bag.
DO NOT LEAVE YOUR IMPORTANT PAPERS AND PASSPORTS/BIRTH CERTIFICATES IN YOUR BAGS THAT ARE BEING CHECKED IN…. KEEP THEM ON YOUR PERSON INSTEAD.
Dropping off your bags
When you get to the pier, drive to the porters, drop off your bags (tip a few bucks per bag…maybe $5 per person).
About the Port
In 2004, Royal Caribbean (parent company of celebrity) looking for an alternative to New York's overcrowded and under-efficient cruise terminal, moved its ships across the Hudson River to New Jersey. The cruise line set up shop at the former Bayonne Military Ocean Terminal (which has now been renamed the Peninsula at Bayonne Harbor) on a 430-acre manmade point of land. And so Cape Liberty Cruise Port got its start.
In preparation for the arrival of RCI's Quantum-class vessels, Quantum of the Seas and Anthem of the Seas, Bayonne's Cape Liberty cruise facility underwent renovations to both accommodate the larger ships and to make passenger traffic flow more smoothly.
The port offers outstanding views of the harbor, the Statue of Liberty and lower Manhattan. But Bayonne itself is primarily a residential community, rather than a hot spot for tourism. Truth be told, the port is rather drab and industrial looking. Indeed, Bayonne's best asset is its proximity to bustling communities like Hoboken, Jersey City and, of course, the Big Apple, only seven miles (or a 10-minute drive) away. For most folks, the port is close enough to Manhattan to take advantage of all that the city has to offer.
